How do I get chosen?
Awarded as Top Leadership and Performance student during Axiata University Leadership Development Programme 2014, with a reward of 8 weeks structured internship in one of Axiata Group Berhad operating company. Accepted the offer on 2015 to work at Jakarta (all expenses paid by Axiata Group Berhad).
Role Title : Finance Digital Services Intern
Chosen into Digital Services department by Finance Manager of Digital Services, XL Axiata.
Job responsibility
Through 8 weeks of internship, all responsibility was given by XL Axiata. They treat oversea intern as an expatriate, which makes you feel comfortable to work with everyone in the department.
All work activities must be reported in weekly basis to Axiata Group Berhad via structured work & leadership reporting. Report submitted on 2nd week (Introduction), 5th week (Work progress) and 8th week (Final reporting).
Through eight weeks, you may be in contact with Axiata Group Berhad via message and skype.
Job Scale
Since Digital Services is a new and innovative area for telecommunication industry, strong basic is needed before finance support in the business is given. On early internship period, I took the time to familiarize myself with IT and Digital Services jargons while understanding daily operation business.
To build trust in work environment is important. On third week, I was given responsibility in one of Digital Services Business Units to project their business financial statements including valuating intangible assets hold by the entity.
At the end of my internship, upon accomplishing projected financial statement, I was entrusted to work in strategic team to use my projection into developing a better 2016 strategy for all the business units.
Overall, the learning curve is steep once you get into the room. Best take away was the working experienced in handling my own project, where to practice a great startup culture and making every ideas possible.
Axiata Group Berhad supervise in weekly basis, basically by keeping in touch and taking care of our well being. It is nice to know that your parent company take care of you in time.
XL Axiata offer tremendous helps in keeping us, intern comfortable and feeling at home. They provide support and involved interns into company activities, such as potluck, weekly meeting and other entertainment as well (such as travelling aroung indo!).
Work wise, it is enough to said, supervisor keep you on track with your work. In case you are lost, or in need of help, or feeling out of the blue, colleague will always be there helping and sparing their time to guide you through it, provided you have work hard to solved your problem at the first place.
At the end of the internship, you will be reporting and making a final presentation to Board of Director in Axiata Group Berhad regarding your work in operating company.
