On the first day, I was told by my supervisor that my job scope is equal to all new associates and being intern doesn't mean you'll get lighter jobs. True enough I was assigned to various of jobs from data mining, research writing and interviewing directors. BFS in Frost, unlike other departments, write mostly the Prospectus for IPO, which is good because you will get to be exposed to working with various clients and Investment Bankers. Because of this nature, you will be expected to move out from your field of expert and venture into a market which is somewhat foreign to you. I cannot disclose the on-going project, but Frost has had pretty important past projects such as the Healthcare giant, IHH and the (unfortunately postponed forever) energy firm, Ranhill. What did you learn?
I came into the internship expecting to utilize my economic skills. However, I realised that these skills can only help me so much, there are so many other soft skills one cannot learn from an academic institution. In the process of this internship, I've truly gained so much. Was your supervisor supportive?
My mentor actively involved me.What could be improved? What could you have done better?
The old office (they've moved since) was monotone and boring. The pantry was a shame. While my department was good, I constantly heard interns/staff complaining about other departments. I would also think that Frost needs a revamp of the aggregate managerial system.Advice for future interns?
If your everyday aim is to wake up everyday to get to office to work, and go back home after 8 hours of staring at the monitors and 1 extra hour of being stuck in the jam, this job is clearly not for you. On the other hand, if you wake up everyday to be this ideal person you've always dreamt to be, and that you see opportunities in everything you do, everything you see, this job would be your career haven. (phrase stolen from my Supervisor :P )
